Spiritualist Healing is carried out according to the philosophy and teachings of Spiritualism. The healing is of a spiritual nature and this has an effect on all levels within the body, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. A Spiritualist Healer administers healing with this knowledge and through this realise the importance of their role as a channel for the healing energies and thus cannot direct or influence what is a natural process. The healing energies help the patient's own healing process to begin and the Healer should help the patient to realise this. The patient's general attitude can and does have a great effect on the quality of healing they receive.

It is not necessary for the patient to have faith or even believe in Spiritualist Healing to receive it. Children who are too young to understand faith or hold beliefs receive Spiritual Healing in the same way as anyone else. Animals can receive and benefit from Spiritual Healing.

There are two methods of healing, Contact Healing where the Spiritualist Healer places his hands either onto or near to a patient and Absent Healing where the Healer is not present with the patient but sends healing thoughts to them.

No massage or manipulation is used during Contact Healing and no patient is asked to remove any clothing, except for maybe an overcoat, or glasses and hearing aids for safety reasons.

All SNU registered Spiritualist Healers work within the Healing Code of Conduct issued by the Spiritualists' National Union and patients should always request the Healer to produce his registration card. This will state whether they are a registered SNU Spiritualist Healer and will show whether it is valid or not and carry an HO number.

Healing is available every Tuesday (see the Diary) and may additionally be offered after the Sunday Service if there are Healers available.
